There are two types of technical safety authorities dealing with different tasks. Capital and local county government offices with local territorial authority (ten of them) fall into the first type. They are listed in the Annex 1 of Government degree 365/2016. (XI. 29.).
The other safety related authority is Technical Supervisory Department (TSD), which have overall national authority.
The TSD is responsible for the following authoritative tasks
1. Suitability declaration and registration of economic organizations and supervision of their activity in
- fusion welding during the production and on-site assembly, modification or repair of the welded structures,
- production of storage tanks for dangerous liquids and melts, storage facilities and their equipment, as well as on-site installation, repair, modification, cleaning, leak testing and periodic inspection of the storage tanks,
2. Designation and supervision of organizations that
- certify the suitability of economic operators carrying out fusion welding for the manufacture of some welded structures (pressure equipment, storage tanks), on-site assembly, modification or repair of some welded structures,
- certify the suitability of economic operators manufacturing tanks, storage facilities and their equipment and carrying out on-site installation, repair, leak testing, modifying, cleaning and periodic inspection of tanks,
- measure hydrocarbon emission and adjustment of vapour control and recovery systems for controlling volatile organic compound emissions at petrol fuel stations.
3. Suitability declaration and registration of
- lifts, escalators and moving walks,
- lift and escalator inspectors,
- registered organizations.
4. Approval of further training programs, supervision of training and examination activities mandatory for
- pressure equipment operators, pressure equipment inspectors and the pressure vessel engineers,
- tank inspectors, tank cleaners,
- inspectors of electrical contact protection according to standards, inspectors of power equipment, inspectors of lightning protection equipment,
- inspectors of lifts and escalators,
- technical safety relevant jobs in natural gas supply,
5. Approval of training programs and supervision of training and examination activities necessary for obtaining the technical qualification for the jobs
- pressure equipment operators, pressure equipment inspectors,
- tank cleaners, tank inspectors
6. Approval of test methods for certain aerosol products,
7.Suitability declaration and registration of

notified and authorized electricians,

plumbers with contractor rights,
8. Authentication of educational activity for the safe operation of entertainment equipment in I. and II. hazard class.

Applications must be submitted electronically by the clients on a form that can be downloaded from the website.
The list of authorized organizations holding a valid permit or organisations registered for certain activities are published on the authority's website in the Official registers.
